Norton Orthodontics

Dr. Jeremiah Sturgill grew up in the small town of Big Stone Gap in southwestern Virginia. He knew he wanted to be an orthodontist as a teenager.

After seeing how much braces changed his smile, he was inspired to help others achieve similar success through orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Sturgill endured the rigorous process of becoming board-certified, involving hundreds of additional hours of preparation to show he was able to provide the highest level of patient care.

He was proud to earn the distinction of becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This honor is bestowed on only 40% of practicing orthodontists.

His dedication to his patients and their dental health helps people smile in more ways than one.

He combines his profound orthodontic skill with thorough communication, professionalism, and a zany sense of humor to help patients achieve the orthodontic results they want, all while having fun.

Dr. Allison Williams grew up in the Midwestern town of Carmel, IN, where at the age of 11 she first told her parents about her desire to become an orthodontist. That dream began to unfold when she attended Indiana University, studying Biology and Small Business Management. She graduated with honors in 2014, and met her husband, Matt, through leading Young Life in the process.

Dr. Williams continued to pursue her dream, beginning her dental education at Indiana University School of Dentistry, located in Indianapolis. In 2018, she completed her training and graduated at the top of her class. Subsequently, Dr. Williams accepted a residency position at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry Graduate Orthodontic Residency Program – one of the top orthodontic programs in the country. She earned an Orthodontic Certification and Master’s Degree of Dental Science upon successfully defending her thesis on 3-D printing. Through this program, Dr. Williams gained extensive experience with interdisciplinary cases and served on the craniofacial team during her time as a resident.

They’re excited about moving to East Tennessee where they’ll be surrounded by the beautiful mountains and southern hospitality. Dr. Williams is truly honored to work with such an outstanding team at Sturgill Orthodontics and she is thrilled to meet all of you!

Norton Braces

When it comes to straightening smiles and correcting misalignment between the teeth and jaws, traditional braces are one of the most efficient and time-proven orthodontic tools we have. They are normally made up of metal or ceramic brackets that are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustment appointments with our doctors, the brackets, wires, and bands will work together to apply gentle, continuous pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the desired positions.

Braces have a long history of successfully correcting a number of orthodontic issues, from simple to complex. Because they can sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other options, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced. Traditional braces also tend to require less of the complicated technology and expensive equipment that newer treatments rely on, making them a cost-effective option for straightening smiles.

Norton Invisalign

Instead of brackets, wires, and bands, the Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move the teeth into alignment. This treatment option is popular with both patients and orthodontists, and is currently the top alternative to traditional braces. The aligners are made of a clear plastic material that has been designed to fit comfortably over a patient’s teeth, and they are switched out approximately every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. This keeps teeth moving in the direction we want them to go. Patient compliance is crucial to the success of the Invisalign system, and aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment to be effective. Patients who neglect to wear the aligners as recommended by our doctors can impede the results and also add time to the overall orthodontic process.
